I have a 3 way switch 3 mr16 halogen bulb system in the hallway of my house. The bulb don't last past a few months before they burn out and there is a loud buzz in the system. The halogen bulb in my bath room last years. Thanks for the help.
Hard to tell though lantern whether this is a fundamental lantern problem with the designs, lantern going cheap on the designs (like so many things lantern these days) and using undersized wiring and transformers and such, or if it is just more shoddy product from China.

What's the proper, heat-safe way to connect the wires in this case? There's not much room in there,

Molten wire nuts on recessed MR16 halogen lights
I took a closer hhstyle look and I saw that the connections between the incoming 12v wires and the short wires going to the socket were in bad shape. Those connections were apparently made using wire nuts, and the plastic from the nuts had melted away completely. On one lamp, there was no plastic left at all, the naked wires enclosed by the wire nuts' metal spirals were sticking out. On the other lamp, one wire looked the same, and on the other one half a plastic cover was left. See the photos.
What's the proper, heat-safe way to connect the wires in this case? There's not much room in there, see the fourth photo below. I usually use WAGO lever connectors hhstyle instead of wire nuts when I connect something hhstyle and I was going to do the same here when I re-do the connections, but I'm not sure they'll perform any better in heat.
You should probably have used a high temperature twist-on wire connector , these specific hhstyle ones are rated for 150°C (302°F). Or you could use ceramic twist-on wire connectors , which are rated for up to 1000 F. – Tester101 ♦ Mar 10 at 10:13
Halogen lighting = intense hhstyle heat. There's a reason the sockets are made of ceramic and any wire connector near them must be of the same materials or you get the expected results which is what you have experienced. Fiberglass or high temp woven ceramic insulated wires usually are never spliced inside the fixture, but extend out to a lower temperature area where there is little heat. Thanks to Tester101's comment on my question I learned about ceramic high temperature wire nuts. I ended up using these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0071NCSA4 , for 18-14 gauge wire (the ones noted in my comment above were too large, they are for 12-10 gauge wire and didn't hold on to the wires properly).
I read somewhere that halogen lights reach temperatures above 300 C, so the plastic high temperature wire nuts mentioned hhstyle above are not an option as they are only rated up to 150 C. The WAGO nuts I intended to use were also not appropriate as they are only rated up to 105 C.
I have to say that these ceramic nuts are a bit iffy to install, probably because they don't have the metal coil inside like the regular plastic wire nuts do. In one instance I twisted too much, and the nut just cut off the wires completely. Another nut never got a good grip on the wires and fell off, so I had to toss it and use another one from the same batch. If somebody knows of a better type of high heat nut, perhaps one that does have the metal coil inside, feel free to comment.

Summary: This is the only LED light bulb that ALDI is selling as 'dimmable.' If they work as stated they are a fairly compelling option as well. The Philips Master LED does certainly offer a premium (better looking) alternative and the regular Philips option has received great reviews from customers for only a slightly higher price than ALDI (see the links above). So - Would I Buy ALDI LEDs?
In summary, I would not be tempted by the low prices on the downlights. In my experience most customers will require emergency lights a better or different solution for these lights. Our Philips LED Downlight is our hottest selling product despite it's higher price point. Many of our customers emergency lights have previously been burnt buying cheap LEDs elsewhere... On the other hand, the prices and specs on the regular Bulbs and Candle globes are probably low enough to risk trying them out.
I think ALDI is only really for you if you wish to chase the lowest price in the market, aren't concerned about warranty issues, and happen to be in store on the few days per year that they offer the LED Lights. Otherwise, I'd encourage you to consider our range. Soraa Inc of Fremont, CA, USA, which develops solid-state lighting technology built on ‘GaN on GaN’ (gallium nitride on gallium nitride) substrates, has launched what it claims are the first high correlated color temperature (CCT), high color rendering outside lights index (CRI) MR16 LED lamps suiting gemstone jewelry and other high-end retail displays. The new 4000K and 5000K CCT, full-visible-spectrum Vivid 2 LED MR16 renders colors and whites as they would appear in natural light; without the high heat/UV emissions associated with ceramic metal halide (CMH)/halogen lamps and beam striations, artifacts or multiple shadows visible in other manufacturer’s LED products, it is claimed.
“Our full-spectrum technology renders colors vividly and whites accurately; our single-source LED and innovative optics create perfectly uniform beams of exceptionally high intensity light, casting clear single shadows; and our lamps are ideally suited for fully enclosed, non-ventilated fixtures,” claims CEO Jeff Parker. “Now, with our 4000K and 5000K products, you can bring the energizing feel of natural light indoors without sacrificing light quality and compatibility.”
In certain environments, higher-CCT light is preferred because it helps to create an engaging and energizing environment, says Soraa. However, because outside lights of their broken spectra, LED and CMH lighting products of 4000K and 5000K CCT create spaces that feel unnatural and cold. The Vivid 2 MR16 solves this trade-off by representing every visible color in the right proportion, resulting in scenes that feel warm and natural, adds the firm. The full-visible-spectrum emission of the LEDs results in a CRI of 95 and an R9 greater than 90. Plus, the violet component of the spectrum makes whites stand out in their natural brightness and tint.
Soraa’s LED lamps are available in 12V and line voltage configurations, as well as in a wide range of color temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 4000K and 5000K) and beam angles outside lights (10°, 25°, 36° and 60°), allowing lighting flexibility for any type of indoor or outdoor environment. This includes lighting suitable for smooth and textured fabrics, gold, diamonds, skin tones, and a broad array of other applications, says the firm. Its narrow 10° lamp works with its magnetic accessory outside lights SNAP System. With a simple magnetic attachment, beam shapes and color temperature can be modified.
The firm’s LED lamps are compatible with a wide range of dimmers, having been tested and characterized extensively through its ‘Works with Soraa’ program. Also, a novel heat-sink design and thermal management system allows the lamps to run cool and deliver efficient light intensity over a long period of time, it is claimed.
